Overview
H1NTED is a pre-interaction personalization layer for AI systems and robots. It addresses the AI cold-start problem — the situation in which an AI system has little or no information about a person before the first interaction.
Most personalization systems improve after collecting interaction history, preferences, feedback, memory or user data. H1NTED provides useful personalization before communication begins, giving the AI an initial understanding of how it should approach, communicate with and behave toward a specific person.
The Problem
Before an initial interaction, an AI system often knows very little about the person it is about to engage with. This creates a cold-start problem.
Without sufficient information the system may:
- communicate in a generic way;
- use an inappropriate tone;
- choose unsuitable words or phrases;
- behave in a way that does not fit the individual;
- make incorrect assumptions;
- fail to recognise relevant preferences or boundaries;
- create a poor first impression;
- require repeated interactions before meaningful personalization develops.
Existing approaches rely on interaction history, memory, explicit questions, feedback, user profiles, contextual information, computer vision, facial recognition or emotion detection. These methods can be useful, but most either require prior data or build a user model only after interaction has started.
H1NTED focuses specifically on the period before the interaction begins.
What H1NTED Does
H1NTED takes permitted, non-biometric visual signals and converts them into a structured behavioural and communication profile. The resulting profile provides the AI system with actionable guidance on how it should communicate and behave toward that individual.
Guidance covers:
- communication style;
- words and phrases to use;
- words and phrases to avoid;
- tone;
- attitude;
- behavioural approach;
- preferences;
- boundaries;
- situational responses;
- relevant life and behavioural contexts.
The objective is not to identify what a person looks like, but to supply the AI with practical personalization guidance. H1NTED currently covers 100+ life and behavioural contexts and can generate personalized guidance in approximately 10 seconds.
Pre-Interaction Personalization
The key distinction is timing.
Traditional personalization flow:
Interaction → Data → User Profile → Personalization
H1NTED flow:
Visual Signals → H1NTED → Behavioural & Communication Profile → First Interaction
This gives the AI a personalized starting point instead of forcing it to begin with completely generic behaviour. H1NTED does not replace an AI model, LLM, memory system or existing personalization technology. It functions as an additional personalization layer that supplies context to an existing AI system.
What H1NTED Does Not Do
H1NTED is not a facial-recognition system and does not need to identify a person’s name or identity. It is also not an emotion-detection system.
Emotion detection tries to determine a person’s current emotional state. H1NTED addresses a broader question: given what can be determined before interaction, how should this AI communicate and behave toward this person?
The purpose is behavioural and communication personalization, not identity recognition.

Instead of starting from “I do not know this person, so I will behave generically,” H1NTED enables “I have an initial understanding of how I should communicate and behave toward this person.”
This reduces dependence on lengthy interaction histories for the initial personalization phase and can improve the quality of first interactions.

H1NTED aims to become a pre-interaction personalization infrastructure layer for AI systems. As AI becomes more present in human-facing environments, the ability to personalize before communication begins is expected to grow in importance.
Compliance & Responsible Development
H1NTED is designed for consent-based and privacy-minded use. It does not require facial recognition or biometric identification.
Applications are intended to be developed and deployed in accordance with applicable data-protection, AI, legal, ethical and sector-specific requirements, including GDPR and the EU AI Act where applicable.
Exact capabilities and permitted use may vary depending on the application, jurisdiction, environment and user permissions.
Current Status
Working technology: Visual-signal analysis and behavioural prompt generation have been validated at the current development stage.
Current focus: B2B integration for robotics and AI agents, with onboarding personalization identified as the strongest initial application.
